Chelsea youth team defender Nathan Ake will play in the final of this year's European Under 17 Championships after the Netherlands beat Georgia 2-0 in the semi-final on Sunday evening.

Ake was a regular at centre-back in our FA Youth Cup-winning side, but missed Wednesday's second leg of the final at Blackburn due to the international tournament. There he has been playing in midfield for the Dutch and wearing the captain's armband.

They reached the semi-final with a group stage win over host nation Slovenia in which Ake scored, and 0-0 draws against Belgium and Poland.

Both goals in the semi-final came in the final five minutes, Ake having earlier volleyed against the Georgian bar. He then crossed for the first of the two goals that put the Dutch into Wednesday's final when they meet Germany in a repeat of last year's deciding tie.
