Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Born on 23 January 1996 in Lewisham, Ruben has been with Chelsea since Under-8s and is a talented box-to-box midfielder who has also played at the back. He captained England schoolboys in the Victory Shield and played three times for the Chelsea youth team when still an Under-15.

In 2011/12 he was impressing again before picking up an injury to his hip and groin but recovered in time to make a substitute appearance in the FA Youth Cup Final. The 2012/13 season is his first full-time.

Loftus-Cheek is a midfielder who is comfortable in possession and has a good range of passing. The current season has seen him feature at both Under-18 and Under-21 level, performing consistently well in both.

He made seven appearances in the NextGen Series, has been an ever-present in our run to the FA Youth Cup final, and his presence in the midfield has been a key factor in our progression.

He made his England Under-17s debut in October, 2012, and played most recently in the March fixture against Russia.
