Our Asian Star initiative will make its Stamford Bridge debut this June as the ground-breaking event returns for a ninth successive year.

Having been staged at our Cobham training base for each of the last eight seasons, the event, which is designed to give a much-needed boost to Asian participation at all levels of the game, will this year take place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday June 3.

The initiative, the first of its kind undertaken by a professional football club, is open footballers of all abilities aged 9 to 12 and with Asian heritage.

Boys with a background from countries affiliated with The Asian Confederation (AFC) are eligible but priority will be given to players from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

A fun, engaging and free event, players who excel on the day will be offered a year-long placement at one of our Foundation Development Centres.

Asian star 2016

Asian Star was launched in 2009 and has grown in size ever since, attracting almost 400 young players and their parents to our Cobham training ground last year, where they competed in a series of matches and tests to examine speed, skill and ability under the watchful eye of Chelsea Foundation coaches.

The Chelsea Foundation's dedicated coaches all hold valid DBS, FA Coaching, Safeguarding Children and First Aid certificates to ensure the highest levels of both coaching and safety.

Chelsea will also be inviting managers, coaches and scouts from clubs at all levels of the game to identify talented youngsters and we will work closely with the Football Association and London FA on the day, with workshops and useful information available to parents.
