Tommy's Chelsea career began in 1974 and he quickly established himself as a key player when he scored 13 goals during Chelsea's first season back in the First Division in 1977-78, making him the Blue's top-scorer.

The following year he was voted Club Player of the Year. He stayed at Stamford Bridge for six years before joining QPR in 1980.

Tommy also had stints at Crystal Palace, AEK Athens, Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, South Chine, Aldershot, Exeter City and US team Tampa Bay Rowdies before retiring.
