The Dutch defender signed for Chelsea in 1989 and made an impressive start by being voted Player of the Year in his first season, making him the first black player to win the award.

Ken stayed with Chelsea for three years before moving to Southampton and retiring in 1999. He currently runs a sports management company as well as owning a successful pancake restaurant in the Dutch city of Oude Delft. Ken is also an ambassador for anti-racism and is actively involved in Dutch media as well as making appearances on Chelsea TV.

With many strings to his bow, Ken also takes an active interest in the Arts and likes nothing better than to escape to the North of England for a spot of fly fishing.
