INTERNATIONALS: THE 2011/12 SEASON IN NUMBERS

The Euro 2012 Final brought to an end the international match calendar for the 2011/12 season, and happily Chelsea players in the shape of Fernando Torres and Juan Mata were involved right at the very end.

Today the official Chelsea website presents our annual statistical breakdown of player involvement for their countries over the past 12 months.

A total of 20 Chelsea-owned players were involved at full international level and it was Raul Meireles with 12 starts and one substitute appearance for Portugal who was used most by his country

There is no surprise to see the now-departed Didier Drogba scored as many international goals as any Chelsea player in 2011/12, with six for Ivory Coast plus one in a penalty shoot-out, but he is joined on six goals by his fellow out-of-contract Ivorian Salomon Kalou.

Drogba leaves Chelsea having won 74 caps while our player. His 46 goals in those matches is double the figure scored by Frank Lampard, who is second in our all-time list of international goals while a Chelsea player.

Ashley Cole is just two caps away from his 100 for England and Torres is also on 98 for Spain. Petr Cech is well set to become a centurion in the next 12 months as well.
