Chelsea Academy product John Swift was part of the England Under-19 squad progressing to the next stage of the European Championship qualification process as group winners in a tournament completed today (Monday).

The young England side equalised in the closing seconds against Ukraine in their third game in Estonia to secure first place and top seeding for the draw to come. Seventeen-year-old Swift, who is captain of the Chelsea youth team this season, remained on the bench but he played the full 90 minutes on Friday in a 6-0 win over Faroe Islands, the result that ensured qualification for the elite round of matches next spring.

That was the midfielder's first start at this level. He had made his Under-19 debut as a substitute on Wednesday against Estonia.
