INTERNATIONAL CALL-UPS: WHO IS AWAY?

International football returns this week with a host of friendlies taking place across the globe and, as ever, the Blues are well represented, ensuring Cobham is a far quieter placeā€¦

With England travelling to Stockholm to take on Sweden at the Friends Arena, their brand new national stadium, tomorrow night, manager Roy Hodgson has called on the services of Ryan Bertrand, Gary Cahill and Daniel Sturridge, who will all be hoping to stake a claim ahead of the next round of World Cup qualifiers in March.

Likewise, Brazil manager Mario Menezes has also called on a Chelsea trio, with David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires joining up with the squad ahead of their game against Colombia in New Jersey.

Eden Hazard will be hoping to start for Belgium when they take on Romania in Bucharest, while Juan Mata [pictured above], after missing out on the previous Spain squad, has been rewarded for an impressive run of form which saw him crowned Barclays Player of the Month for October, with a call-up for their friendly against Panama.

From the first team, Branislav Ivanovic completes the selections as he sets off to represent Serbia in their game against Chile in Switzerland.

A string of call-ups for some of our younger players, meanwhile, illustrates the good work being carried out across the club at all levels.

Conor Clifford has been called into the senior Republic of Ireland squad for their game against Greece in Dublin, after first earning senior recognition with a place in the squad for last month's matches against Germany and the Faroe Islands.

Josh McEachran, currently flourishing at an in-form Middlesbrough in the Championship, is expected to start for England Under-21s against Northern Ireland at Bloomfield Road tonight, while Nathaniel Chalobah has also been called into the squad by Stuart Pearce.

Oriol Romeu, meanwhile, who started his first league game of the season in the recent 1-1 draw against Swansea, is part of the Spain Under-21 squad for their match away in Italy.

Islam Feruz  has been rewarded for a stunning individual display for Scotland Under-19s last month, when he scored a hat-trick against Switzerland, by being called into the Under-21s squad for an away fixture against Portugal, while Nathan Ake has been called into the Dutch Under-19s squad for their game against PEC Zwolle.

Midfielder Lamisha Musonda, meanwhile, will spend a couple of days away at a Belgium Under-21s training camp.
