Petr Cech has been named the Czech Republic's player of the season for an eighth time.

The Chelsea goalkeeper was already the record winner of the Golden Ball award which is voted on by sports journalists, having last year surpassed Pavel Nedved who collected it on six occasions.

This is the fourth consecutive year Cech has been handed the accolade which he adds to the Czech Republic's Footballer of the Year which is decided by the Czech FA. In February he won that for a sixth time which is also a record. He won his 100th cap for his country in March and the Europa League with his club last month.
