THE 2012/13 SEASON IN PICTURES: APRIL

The official Chelsea website is taking a look back at the 2012/13 season through images taken over the course of the campaign, capturing the action as it unfolded, including goals scored, team celebrations, supporters' reactions and behind-the-scenes shots.

It was a season which saw the Blues play an astonishing 69 matches, and with no shortage of moments to reflect on, today we move on to the penultimate month of the campaign...

Demba Ba scores against Manchester United

Demba Ba scored the only goal of the game with a brilliant volley as we beat Manchester United 1-0 in our FA Cup replay, to set up a semi-final clash with their neighbours, Manchester City, at Wembley.

Ester signs for Chelsea Ladies

David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar were on hand to welcome their fellow Brazilian Ester to Cobham after she signed for the Chelsea Ladies.

Fernando Torres scores against Rubin Kazan

Fernando Torres rises highest to head powerfully into the back of the net in our Europa League quarter-final against Rubin Kazan. It was the Spaniard's second goal of the game as we put ourselves in control of the tie with a 3-1 first-leg win at Stamford Bridge.

Matt Kilgallon scores an own goal against Chelsea

Sunderland's Matt Kilgallon can't watch as the ball cannons against him and rolls into an empty net, helping us to come from behind and secure a crucial 2-1 win against the Black Cats.

Players training in Russia

The players are put through their paces on artificial turf in the Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, ahead of the second leg of our Europa League quarter-final against Rubin Kazan. The game itself saw us lose 3-2 on the night, although we progressed 5-4 on aggregate.

Ryan Bertrand and Juan Mata at Wembley

Ryan Bertrand and Juan Mata look dejected as we are beaten 2-1 by Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final. Having trailed 2-0, Demba Ba pulled a goal back, and while we had chances and a very good shout for a penalty towards the end of the game, we were unable to find an equaliser.

David Luiz scores at Fulham

With the race to qualify for the Champions League gathering momentum as the season edged towards its conclusion, the west London derby at Fulham took on huge significance. David Luiz broke the deadlock with a truly stunning strike to set us on our way before a John Terry brace sealed a 3-0 win.

Eden Hazard scores against Liverpool

Away at Liverpool, Eden Hazard restored our lead from the penalty spot after Daniel Sturridge had cancelled out Oscar's opener. With the Blues seemingly heading for a win, however, Luis Suarez headed home an equaliser in the sixth minute of added-time to give the home side a share of the spoils.

Victor Moses and David Luiz celebrate in Basel

The first leg of our Europa League semi-final in Basel saw the hosts equalise late in the game having been awarded a dubious penalty. It looked as though we would have to settle for a draw, but David Luiz did it again, scoring a brilliant free-kick right at the death to send us into the return with a 2-1 advantage.

Bobby Tambling at Stamford Bridge

Bobby Tambling was the guest of honour as we welcomed Swansea City to Stamford Bridge late in April, on a day when Frank Lampard moved to within one goal of his club record, scoring from the penalty spot after Oscar had given us the lead to cap a 2-0 victory.
