GOLD FOR COLE AT WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES

Chelsea's Naomi Cole was on target as Great Britain triumphed at the World University Games in Russia.

Having beaten Brazil at the semi-final stage of the competition, Great Britain met Mexico in the final and ran out 6-2 winners.

After falling behind early on, it was Cole who equalised. Mexico retook the lead shortly after, but Isobel Christiansen saw her deflected effort find the back of the net to ensure it was all-square at the break.

With ten minutes remaining the sides were still level, but that soon changed. Great Britain struck four times in a manic final ten minutes, with Fran Kirby grabbing a brace and Aileen Whelan and Danielle Carter both contributing a single goal to clinch the Gold medal.
