Chelsea Ladies' most recent acquisition, Yuki Ogimi, shone for Japan as they opened their East Asia Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over China.

The 26-year-old played a pivotal role for the tournament favourites, who are bidding for a third consecutive triumph in the competition, laying on a goal in each half.

Kozue Ando was first to benefit from Ogimi's creativity, taking the Chelsea player's pass in her stride and breaking the deadlock eight minutes before half-time.

Again, it was Ogimi's inventiveness which enabled Japan to double their advantage just before the hour when she supplied the pass from which Emi Nakajima finished impressively.

Japan are next in action against North Korea on Thursday.
