Under-21 squad member Lewis Baker has today (Monday) signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2016.

The 18-year-old, who has been part of the Chelsea Academy since Under-10 level, has been rewarded for an impressive 2012/13 season in which he performed well for both the FA Youth Cup side and Under-21s.

A creative, two-footed midfielder, Baker signed a professional contract in July 2012 and has flourished since, establishing himself as a regular in Dermot Drummy's team.

He was an ever-present in the NextGen Series, scoring a brace in our 4-3 semi-final win over Arsenal, as well as winning the Player of the Tournament award.

Baker played in every game as the Under-18s reached the FA Youth Cup final, and was also an integral member of the team which won the competition in 2011/12.

Having represented England at Under-17 level, the youngster was handed his Under-19 debut for the national side earlier this year in a game against Denmark.
