LADIES REPORT: CHELSEA 4 DONCASTER 0

Chelsea Ladies resumed their FA Women's Super League campaign with a resounding 4-0 win over Doncaster Rovers Belles.

The Blues were irresistible on their return from the summer break as a brace from Eniola Aluko and further strikes from Helen Ward and Sofia Jakobsson fired us to a comfortable victory at Wheatsheaf Park.

Aluko was at her electrifying best as she struck twice inside the opening period to stun the visitors. It was Chelsea who started the brightest and Sofia Jakobsson, who had been a thorn in the side of the Belles in their two previous meetings this year, broke through past the visiting defence. As the winger reached the by-line, she played a tempting cross across the face of goal, but nobody was able to connect.

We almost took the lead moments later. Yuki Ogimi, who was making her FA WSL debut, fed Aluko who slotted home. The linesman however, had raised his flag and the celebrations were short lived. But she broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when she collected the ball from Ward and rounded Nicola Davies before slotting into an empty net.

Jess Sigsworth was proving to be a tricky customer for the Chelsea defence. After holding the ball up well, she burst past Bleazard before firing the ball in low. Telford was alert, and managed to claim the ball at her near post.

Jakobsson's low cross then found Ward, who turned and shot instantly. Davies did well to get down low and hold her effort. Shortly after, Aluko had space and time at the back-post, but Davies used her body to block her effort and keep the score at 1-0.

Davies could do nothing moments later, however, as we added a second. A neat passing move found Eniola Aluko, who dribbled in from the left before exchanging passes with her Welsh team-mate and sweeping the ball into the bottom corner.

We made sure of the result within 180 seconds of the restart as Ward tapped home from point-blank range after Jakobsson's looped effort clipped the woodwork.

The Belles almost reduced the scoreline moments later. The impressive Sigsworth saw her effort cannon back off the post, with England unable to reach the rebound.

Jakobsson then got in on the act herself with a neat finish 16 minutes from time.
