INTERNATIONAL SELECTIONS: LAMPARD EDGING CLOSER TO 100 MARK

The 2013/14 season gets underway this coming weekend, with the Blues' opening game taking place against Hull City on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of that, however, a number of our players will head off on international duty to represent their respective nations.

Here, the official Chelsea website takes a look at which players will be in action in midweek…

For the first time since 1999, England and Scotland go head-to-head in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday. Scotland ran out 1-0 winners last time in the second leg of a Euro' 2000 qualifier, and the Chelsea trio of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill, who have all been called up by the Three Lions, will be hoping there is no repeat on this occasion. Lampard is only three appearances away from reaching the 100-cap mark.

David Luiz played the opening 45 minutes of our 2-1 win over Roma in Washington on Saturday having missed the previous two games, and he, along with Oscar, is part of the Brazil side who will take on Switzerland in Basel on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, our Nigerian trio of Victor Moses, John Mikel Obi and Kenneth Omeruo will all hope to play some part as their home nation take on South Africa in Durban.

Andre Schurrle scored his first Chelsea goal in our 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Guinness International Champions Cup last week. The 22-year-old attacker has been called into the Germany squad for their game against Paraguay, where he will be hoping to add to the seven international goals he already has to his name.

Branislav Ivanovic's Serbia face Colombia in Barcelona, while Petr Cech was named in the Czech Republic squad ahead of their game against Hungary in Budapest.

It's been a good pre-season campaign for our Belgian trio of Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, with all three impressing over the course of our trips to Asia and the US. They will hope to do the same when Belgium face France in Brussels on Wednesday.

Marco van Ginkel is another player who has caught the eye since signing for the club in July. The young midfielder is part of the Dutch squad for their away game against Portugal, while Cesar Azpilicueta is our sole representative in the Spain squad for their match against Ecuador.

International action isn't just restricted to members of the first team, with four of our younger players also being called up for their countries.

Todd Kane, currently on a season-long at Blackburn Rovers, has been called into the England Under-21 squad for the first time, where he joins Nathaniel Chalobah. The Chelsea duo could come up against club team-mate Islam Feruz, who has been selected for Scotland.

Lamisha Musonda is part of the Belgium Under-21 squad who take on Israel on Wednesday, while there was also a call-up for Stipe Perica, with our new signing called into the Croatia Under-19s squad for their match against Azerbaijan tonight.
