Throughout the season former player Clive Walker provides radio and TV commentary on Chelsea's games. Here he selects five aspects from the highly entertaining win over title rivals that caught his eye…

It was the full 90-minute performance we have been looking for this season. The first half we were fantastic and the second half we were very good, so it was a wonderful game to take us into the new year.

With Ramires suspended, David Luiz was brought into midfield to provide legs and the result and the way he played showed it was the right selection. We know he can pick a pass and when a player of his quality plays a bit higher up the park, he can be more accurate. He played a superb ball in the move that led to the winner and was able to play knowing there was a cushion behind him.

Eden Hazard played on the right more than in recent games and up against Daniel Agger could concentrate mostly on the attacking side of his game. Willian likes to get forward too but was asked to track Glen Johnson to prevent him causing problems for Cesar Azpilicueta. It worked equally well when Ashley Cole came on because we didn't see a lot of Johnson going forward and he can cause difficulties.

With Chelsea pressing so well high up the pitch, Liverpool tried to force playing the ball out from the back at times, when it really wasn't on. Some games this season our front players have played a pressing game but only for a portion of the match. This game showed they are physically capable of it for 90 minutes and there were some very fit players out there giving their all. Samuel Eto'o's work rate was magnificent with a lot of unselfish running off the ball, and he got rewarded for the effort he put in with his goal.

I said before half time in my commentary that we hadn't seen much of Luis Suarez and Chelsea continued to defend well against him by not allowing him time or space on the ball. When Liverpool did have to resort to hitting long balls up, Suarez was not going to win a header against JT or Gary Cahill.
