Chelsea Ladies are delighted to announce the signing of Swedish international Sofia Jakobsson from Russian side Rossiyanka.

The striker has joined the Blues ahead of the third FA Women's Super League season and brings a wealth of experience with her.

Jakobsson represented Sweden in the 2011 Women's World Cup and took part in the Under-20 World Cup in 2010. The forward has also been a member of two Champions-League competing teams and was part of Sweden's team in the London Olympic Games last year.

'Sofia is a talented, world-class striker whose pace will cause havoc in the FA Women's Super League,' said Chelsea Ladies manager Emma Hayes.

'Her finishing is first class and she has great movement, which will threaten top defenders. Some of the biggest clubs around Europe were vying for her signature so we are delighted she chose us.'

Jakobsson is now looking forward to joining the Blues during pre-season training, which starts this weekend.

'The FA Women's Super League is kicking off its third season and is becoming a very competitive league,' said Jakobsson.

'I'm looking forward to being part of that and also playing for Chelsea. The club offers an amazing infrastructure and professional staff, including a very experienced manager. I can't wait to be able to contribute all of my passion, faith and dedication into this team along with my new team mates to achieve top results.'
