Chelsea Ladies striker Helen Ward was on target yesterday as Wales drew 2-2 in Slovakia in a friendly international.

Kylie Davies and Sophie Ingle also started for the Welsh and they took an early lead through captain Jessica Fishlock after only six minutes when she latched on to a pass from Sarah Wiltshire inside the area to shoot home.

The half was almost done when a mix-up in defence allowed Slovakia to score through Veronika Rybárová to make it 1-1 at half time.

Only five minutes were gone in the second spell when Helen Ward smashed the ball home to give Wales the lead for the second time.

Slovakia made changes and were rewarded with their second goal on 63 minutes through Veronika Klechová.

The sides meet again on Wednesday in a second friendly fixture.
