England Ladies were eliminated from the European Championships in Sweden after falling to a 3-0 defeat against France.

Chelsea's Eniola Aluko started for Hope Powell's side in a game they needed to win in order to stand any chance of qualification for the knockout stages.

France, however, who finished top of Group C, turned in a dominant display and ran out convincing winners.

Eugenie Le Sommer gave the French the lead after only nine minutes, before two second-half goals in as many minutes, courtesy of Louisa Necib and Wendie Renard, sealed the Three Lions' fate.

Aluko was replaced by Kelly Smith on the hour, while her Chelsea team-mate Dunia Susi was an unused substitute.
