Chelsea Ladies have promoted talented youngsters Jodie Brett and Rosella Ayane to the first team squad ahead of the resumption of the FA WSL tomorrow.

Both players have come through the club's successful Centre of Excellence, which has now seen a host of players progress in to the senior squad this season.

Jodie, 17, has been with the centre since she was 9 years old. The central midfielder is very composed on the ball and has an excellent range of passing.

Rosella is also 17 and has made a quick transition to our style of play since being in the centre for the last two years. Rosella is a quick and tricky winger who has a natural eye for goal.

Manager Emma Hayes said: 'We are excited to be bringing in our own home grown talent as it's important for our long-term plan to develop players from within the club.

'Our coaching staff believe our young talent to be a big part of the future of the club. Jodie and Rosella both have great potential and have done very well in the mid-season break.I'm looking forward to working with them.'

Head of Development Robert Udberg, meanwhile, echoed her sentiments, saying: 'I am very pleased for both Jodie and Rosella. We work very hard to develop our own players and we have made some significant improvements to our Girls' Centre of Excellence in recent years.

'It is a key aim of ours to produce good quality players who are able to play within our playing style and then, importantly, to provide them with the opportunity to train and play with the first team.

'When I first met with Emma, she was very keen to work with me to produce a clear player pathway and to give opportunities to our young players.

'Rosella and Jodie have had very different routes to get to where they are now but they have both overcome their own challenges to progress to this level and it is important that they continue to work hard at specific aspects of their game if they are to become established players with us.'

Jodie will wear the number 20 shirt and Rosella the number 22 shirt.

Chelsea Ladies face Doncaster Rovers Belles at Staines Town FC tomorrow, kick-off 2pm.
