Chelsea FC Foundation coaches are currently working with International Football Academy of Cyprus (IFA) to provide grass roots football to males and females of all abilities.
Foundation coaches are working with IFA, a grassroots football organisation, at their facilities in Nicosia and Larnaca in Cyprus. There they are passing on their footballing expertise to IFA players and coaches, who will continue using Chelsea Foundation football coaching methods throughout the year.
Chelsea FC Foundation coach David Monk sums up the first two days in Cyprus below:
'Monday 16 October saw the first Chelsea FC Foundation coaches commence the Chelsea FC Masterclass Football Program in Cyprus, home of the international football academy. We were met with a fantastic response and have thoroughly enjoyed our first day in sunny Cyprus.
'There were 64 enthusiastic players coached in a set of high-tempo technical sessions aimed at developing the individual's match understanding. The most important factor for us in conclusion of the first day has been witnessing the sheer enjoyment on all the faces of these budding young footballers.
'Each day is themed on a Chelsea player and today was Juan Mata - tomorrow will see us coach to the theme of Chelsea's captain John Terry. We can't wait to get back on the pitches and share this wonderful experience with all the players for the rest of the week.'
'On another beautiful day in Cypru,s the players took part in our John Terry day. The sessions were based around defending.
'There were problem solving exercises as a group of defenders had to win back possession and start a counter-attack. The players had a wonderful time and were exhausted at the end of the day's proceedings. It was evident through their red faces, just like the coaches, who were red sun burned faces!
'We cannot wait to get back out there tomorrow as our theme is 'Daniel Sturridge' - attacking flair play so we will see plenty of one-v-one scenarios and goals!'
There will be more updates from Cyprus coming soon.
