There was more fun and games in training at Cobham on Wednesday, as the squad took part in a 7-a-side competition.

The wintry scenes show no sign of curtail at Cobham, but preparations for Manchester United continued to gather pace inside the all-weather dome, where training has been conducted by Luiz Felipe Scolari and his staff so far this week.

The synthetic surface and plastic roofing provide a haven from the frosty conditions while allowing the session to take place on a state-of-the-art playing area.

This morning, the manager decided to make things competitive, organising a four-team, 7-a-side tournament spread across two small pitches, with reduced size goals.

As usual, there was plenty of will to win shown by all sides, with even assistant first team coach Ray Wilkins showing he hasn't lost his touch alongside the more youthful Miroslav Stoch, Jimmy Smith, Jeffrey Bruma and Lee Sawyer.

Refereeing duties were undertaken by Murtosa and Scolari, while Darlan Schneider and Christophe Lollichon kept a close eye on events. There were plenty of highlights, including Deco's clinical finishing and Salomon Kalou's nifty footwork in tight space.

Attacking players found their efforts thwarted time and again by the almost unbeatable Hilario, who eventually led his side to victory after a penalty shootout. Michael Mancienne fired home the winner, leaving Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack dejected with the rest of the squad watching on.
