Comment Eight changes from Arsenal including Ferreira in at centre-back for the first time since Anfield in 2007. Zhirkov plays his first full game for Chelsea, and some more. There is space for both Deco and Joe Cole as the Christmas tree is reintroduced, neither do enough to play the second half. Kalou is at the point. It's an open game and in the first half the defence plays like one unfamiliar with each other. Matters improve when Bruma comes on at half-time, Ferreira reverts to full back and Drogba makes it a front two. His goal moves him ahead of George Hilsdon to go clear as our eighth-highest scorer. However the three subs at half-time risk looks not to have paid off as Blackburn are on top after Kalou's 71st minute injury and departure. Ferreira's second Chelsea goal is a joyous stay of execution but for once a German misses a penalty and with huge responsibility to save it, Poor 18-year-Kakuta has his well-saved. Down to three trophies left to chase, the one consolation is less fixtures during the Africa Cup of Nations.
