Reserve team left-back Ben Gordon will spend the rest of the season on loan at Scunthorpe United having played the first half of the campaign north of the border.

The 19-year-old played 21 games and scored one goal on loan at Kilmarnock who are currently fourth in the Scottish Premier League.

Chelsea and Scunthorpe have now reached agreement for the player to gain experience at a Championship side.

Scunthorpe, managed by Ian Baraclough, are 23rd in England's second tier. They host Everton in the FA Cup this weekend and for their next league match travel to Leeds, the club where Gordon was a schoolboy although he is unlikely to be available as he is recovering from a hamstring injury.

He has not featured in Chelsea's first team but spent a month on loan at Tranmere last season.

Gordon has also signed a new contract which keeps him at the club until 2013.
