The Chelsea trio of John Terry, Ashley Cole and Florent Malouda were all starters in England's 1-1 draw with France in the European Championships group stages on Monday evening.

The English defensive pair completed the 90 minutes while French winger Malouda was withdrawn on 84 after a low-key outing in Donetsk.

Cole and Terry will probably be slightly the happier with the point, as it was English goalkeeper Joe Hart who was the busier of the two, though it was Roy Hodgson's side who took the lead after half an hour when Joleon Lescott headed in. That was cancelled out by Samir Nasri's low strike 10 minutes later, and although both sides threatened in the second half, the French looked the more likely to score.

In the other Group D game on Monday, former Chelsea man Andriy Shevchenko netted a brace for hosts Ukraine as they came from behind to beat Sweden in Kiev, who had taken the lead through Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
