CECH'S ERROR NOT COSTLY

Petr Cech became the first Chelsea player to win a game at Euro 2012 on Tuesday evening, as his Czech Republic side defeated Greece 2-1 in Wroclaw.

The goalkeeper was a virtual spectator in a dream first half for the Czechs, in which they took a two-goal lead inside the first five minutes thanks to strikes from Petr Jiracek and Vaclav Pilar.

Greece, who had earned a creditable 1-1 draw with hosts Poland in the first round of games, looked to carry little threat and it seemed Cech and co. could recover from the 4-1 beating Russia had dished out on Friday.

However shortly after half-time bad luck struck the Chelsea goalkeeper, who, coming out to claim a ball at the edge of his area, seemed to lost concentration and allow the ball to slip from his grasp for Greek substitute Theofanis Gekas to slot into an empty net.

The Czechs complete their group stage fixtures with a meeting against hosts Poland on Saturday.
