SPANISH STARS KEEN TO EARN THEIR TOUR STRIPES

Two of Chelsea's Spanish contingent are looking forward to their first Chelsea summer tour.

Oriol Romeu and Juan Mata signed within weeks of each other last August, meaning they narrowly missed our trip to Asia, but now both anticipate an exciting time stateside as we take in Seattle, New York, Philadelphia and Miami.

Each has their own reasons for their enthusiasm. Mata has developed an ever-growing fan base in America through his social media networks, while for Romeu, it represents a first visit to the USA.

'I have never been to America but everyone says it is really nice there - the weather, the places, everything,' said the Under 21 international. 'People only have good words for America and the facilities there.

'I think it is going to be a big experience for all of us ahead of the season because pre-season is really important to get your body ready and start the campaign as well as you can. So I am excited about going to the USA.'

After 24 appearances in an encouraging first term at Chelsea, Romeu will be keen to make a greater name for himself in front of American audiences over the summer. Mata, our Player of the Year, as well as a World Cup and Champions League winner, is already well-known, and is anticipating an even greater profile for the club following our visit.

'Lots of people in the USA love football, or soccer, and love Chelsea,' said the 24-year-old. 'I feel this on Twitter and Facebook because they write to me and to the club. I hope, after our tour, there will be even more Chelsea supporters in America.'
