MATA AND ROMEU IN OLYMPIC CONTENTION
Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu have been selected by Spain for a training squad ahead of the London Olympics.
The Chelsea pair are in a 22-man squad that will met on Friday and play warm-up games versus Senegal on Friday 13 July and Mexico on Wednesday 18 July. The squad will then be cut to 18 players before travelling to London.
Mata is fresh from his five-minute cameo and goal in the Euro 2012 final, his only match action in the tournament. Romeu made six appearances for Spain Under-21s last season, one for an Under-23 side and two for their Under 20s.
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is also selected.
The 22 named by Spain are:
Goalkeepers: David De Gea, Joel Robles, Diego Marino.
Defenders: Azpilicueta, Jordi Alba, Javi Martinez, Dominguez, Montoya, Botia, San Jose, Inigo Martínez
Midfielders: Thiago Alcantara, Ander Herrera, Koke, Oriol Romeu, Isco, Mata, Muniain
Strikers: Adrian, Álvaro Vázquez, Tello, Rodrigo
On Monday afternoon, Daniel Sturridge and Ryan Bertrand were announced as part of the Team GB squad for the Olympics.
