BLUES FANS BACK FROM THE SUMMIT

At the end of last season, the official Chelsea website carried news of a climb to be attempted by two supporters in order to raise money for charity. We are pleased to report they flew the blue flag high from the top to Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The club's international charity partner Right to Play and Help a Capital Child were two of the causes to benefit from the efforts of Amanda Pesqueira, who is one of the bloggers from Miss SW6 on the blog section of the official Chelsea website, and Clive 'Ossie' Osgood. They raised over £10,000.

Having been given a suitable send-off in a south London pub, with our former player Paul Canoville joining the Chelsea fans there lending support, Amanda and Ossie were no doubt surprised on their arrival in Tanzania to discover the town of Moshi packed with blue-shirt-wearing Chelsea fansand adverts with Didier Drogba on them.

The climb took one week, the final ascent taking seven hours after rest had been difficult due to harsh conditions at base camp, but as intended they reached the summit on the anniversary of Amanda's brother passing away. That had been the inspiration for the challenge and part of the money is going towards the International Association for Suicide Prevention in memory of her brother.

At the peak of the highest mountain in Africa they lifted up the Miss SW6 flag, the Gate 17 flag and the Roman Empire flag - which will be familiar to fans who attend matches at Stamford Bridge.There is also now a 'Keep the Blue Flag Flying High' sticker on the sign at the top.

And then, with their guides Gastor and Livingstone who were by now simply calling them Chelsea, Amanda and Ossie started their descent.
