The final nominations for's Team of the Year have been announced, and the Blues are well represented, with five of our players in the reckoning.

Petr Cech, Ashley Cole, Branislav Ivanovic, Eden Hazard and Juan Mata have all made the list of 40 players, from which the final XI will be announced on Wednesday 16 January.

As well as the five members of our current squad in the running, Didier Drogba has also made the shortlist in recognition of his efforts in last season's successful Champions League campaign.

Cole was the most recent Chelsea player to earn a spot in the final XI back in 2010, while John Terry made the cut on three successive occasions (2007, 2008 and 2009), as well as in 2005.

Cech, who should stand a good chance of inclusion given his heroics in the Champions League final, was also voted into the 2005 team, his sole appearance to date, while Drogba has been nominated once previously, back in 2007.

Former Blues defender Ricardo Carvalho was voted into the 2004 team during his time with the club, while Jose Mourinho was nominated as coach in 2004 and 2005, although the 2004 inclusions were based largely on the duo's success at Porto before they moved to Stamford Bridge.

Voting for the Team of the Year is now open, and will run until midnight on Friday 4 January.
