LAMPARD: DOMINANT DAY

Posted on: Sun 13 Jan 2013

Frank Lampard, a goalscorer in the 4-0 win away at Stoke on Saturday afternoon, believes the team were mentally prepared for the challenge having suffered a cup set-back midweek.

The midfielder, who was captain for the day with John Terry making his return from injury at the very end of the game, netted a second-half penalty after two own-goals had given the Blues the advantage at the Britannia where Stoke had not lost in the league since February. Eden Hazard completed the scoring with a fine strike.

'It was very important to get our attitude right for this one,' said Lampard after the final whistle.

'It was a freezing cold day, it was blowy and Stoke have been unbelievable at home this year.

'You know what you get with them, they are physical and quite rightly so. They play to their strengths.

'But we were right on our game today and barring the first 15 to 20 minutes when they put us under pressure, we completely dominated and were brilliant.'
