Although Petr Cech misses this week's Czech Republic international due to injury, he was able to celebrate being named his country's Footballer of the Year for a record sixth time on Monday night.

He overtakes another goalkeeper, Ivo Viktor, who won the award on five occasions between 1968 and 1976.

The Footballer of the Year is decided by the Czech Football Association and is different from the Czech Golden Ball award which is voted for by journalists. Cech won that for a record seventh time in May.

Tomas Kalas, our 19-year-old central defender currently on-loan at Vitesse Arnhem, was named Talent of the Year in Monday night's awards. It is given to emerging young players and was won by Cech back in 2001.

Kalas made his debut for the Czech national side in November and is in the squad for this week's game in Turkey.
