INTERNATIONALS: AZPILICUETA CAPPED ON NIGHT OF VICTORIES

As well as the England v Brazil match, there were other Chelsea players in friendly action on Wednesday with plenty of success enjoyed.

Cesar Azpilicueta played the full match on the occasion of his debut for Spain, and celebrated with a 3-1 win against Uruguay in a match played in Qatar.

It was a solid game too for the 23-year-old who intervened to prevent chances for both Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez.

Juan Mata also started and played the first half before being replaced by David Villa. It was Mata who supplied Cesc Fabregas for an early opening goal, struck from distance. Barcelona's Pedro scored twice in the second half.

Eden Hazard was on-target with a 10th-minute penalty for Belgium at home to Slovakia. Kevin De Bruyne also started the match and Romelu Lukaku came on at half-time.

The Belgians, who had dominated with Hazard much-involved, looked to have let the win slip when the away side equalised in the 87th minute but there was still time for a winner from PSV Eindhoven's Dries Mertens. Thibaut Courtois was an unused sub.

Branislav Ivanovic played the first half of Serbia's 3-1 win away in Cyprus. The score was 1-1 at the interval.

Tomas Kalas remained an unused sub for Czech Republic who without injured Petr Cech still kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 away win in Turkey.

At Under-19 level, Nathan Ake scored a 75th-minute winner from a corner for the Netherlands at home to Scotland. The match ended 2-1. Islam Feruz played the first hour in attack for the Scots and hit the post, with Alex Davey introduced at half-time.
