The numbers have been crunched after an impressive and important home win.

We scored the first goal of a Barclays Premier League game for the 17th time this season, more than any other team.

A healthy 27 attempts, with 12 on target, produced our first four-goal haul in a month.

We had seven efforts blocked too, while Wigan were denied in the same way five times.

Chelsea's midfield pair of David Luiz and Frank Lampard attempted 13 shots between them. Three were on target, with Lampard netting his 198th Chelsea goal.

Our passing accuracy was 79 per cent, with 376 from 473 attempts on target. Wigan had a greater percentage at 81, but we nearly shared possession with 53 per cent.

While they had plenty of the ball, Wigan did not have the territory. Of Chelsea's 13 interceptions, six were in the Latics' half. To compare, just seven of Wigan's 30 fell in our half.

James McCarthy completed more passes than any other player, with 52. Eden Hazard, back from suspension, made 48 for the Blues (34 in the final third), with Cesar Azpilicueta, Lampard and David Luiz making 46 each.

Ten of our 24 crosses found a Chelsea player, and impressive wide play against Wigan's three centre-backs contributed to our second and third goals. Wigan attempted just six headed clearances over the 90 minutes.

Lampard created four goalscoring chances for team-mates, Fernando Torres and Azpilicueta each made three.

Maynor Figueroa, McCarthy and Jean Beausejour made a combined 14 tackles, with every one successful. David Luiz made four without fault for us.
