ENTER OUR COACHING COMPETITION NOW
Local schools have until tomorrow to enter the Chelsea Foundation's free girls-only coaching competition so get your entries in now.
To celebrate the Women's Champions League Final coming to Stamford Bridge and the start of the third FA WSL season the Chelsea Foundation is offering free expert coaching sessions.
One school in each of the counties and London boroughs where the Chelsea Foundation works will win 10 free coaching sessions for under-12 girls-only teams to help inspire them to get more involved in the game.
The coaching sessions will culminate in a female football festival at the club's training ground in Cobham where each of the teams will compete in a 4v4 tournament. Teams will play against other girls' clubs and girls-only school teams at the festival for the chance to win the Chelsea Cup.
The initiative is aimed at under-12 players because this is the final age when girls play mixed football before moving into the girls-only environment. The Chelsea Foundation wants to give these players their first taste of girls-only football by providing fun coaching sessions. The Foundation will also help them find a club in their area in order to build a lasting legacy for female football.
To enter the competition, schools are being asked to tell the Chelsea Foundation, in no more than 50 words, how the coaching sessions would help inspire girls to play more football. Email your 50 words to firstname.lastname@example.org. Schools have until Wednesday 6 March to enter.
The schools with the most compelling 50 words will then get 10 coaching sessions in the lead-up to the Chelsea Cup, which will take place at Cobham on Sunday 19 May.
The Chelsea Foundation currently works in the London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Wandsworth, Westminster and Sutton as well as Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and Essex.
