A leading campaigner within the football industry is the latest high-profile individual to show their support to Chelsea Football Club's Asian Star campaign.

Butch Fazal, Chair of the Asians in Football Forum, has been an avid supporter for greater Asian participation in football for more than 30 years. He welcomed the fifth year of the Asian Star programme, which has seen more than 1,400 young players vie to win the annual competition in the Under-9 to Under 12 age groups.

Fazal, a member of the FA's National Race Equality Advisory Group, said: 'I would like to wish the 'Asian Star' event the best of luck, there are thousands of young aspirational Asian players who would welcome the opportunity to display their undoubted skill and ability.

'This project, now in its fifth year, has proven sustainability and is an exemplar of good practice which I hope can be replicated by other clubs in the near future to enable even more south Asians to break through in the game.'
