Chelsea youth team midfielder Isak Ssewankambo's participation in the European Under-17 Championship finals has come to an end at the semi-final stage.

The midfielder was representing Sweden at the tournament in Slovakia and played the whole of the group stage - a win over Switzerland and draws against Austria and the host nation.

In the semi-final today (Tuesday) against Russia in Zilina, Ssewankambo went close with an early chance but with the match goalless at full-time, it went straight to what proved a mammoth penalty shoot-out.

Ssewankambo scored the first spot-kick but when everyone had taken one and the result was still not decided it went back to the beginning of the order and the 17-year-old shot over. Russia scored the next penalty to win the shoot-out 10-9 and will play Italy in the final.

This is Ssewankambo's first season at Chelsea and he has made six appearances for our Under-21s and 16 for the youth team.
