LADIES: TRANSFER AND INTERNATIONAL NEWS
Trio Return Home
As the transfer window opened today, Chelsea Ladies let three players leave the club and return home.
Midfielder Edda Gardarsdottir and defender Olina Vidarsdottir (pictured above right) have both returned to Iceland to join FC Valur Reykjavik.
Goalkeeper Shannon Lynn has re-joined Hibernian in Scotland.
Everyone at the club would like to thank them for all their efforts during their stay.
Sofia Wins Bragging Rights
Sweden's Sofia Jakobsson won the bragging rights over club colleagues Eni Aluko and Dunia Susi last night.
All three Chelsea Ladies were involved in their countries' final warm-up match ahead of this summer's European Championships.
Eni Aluko played the full 90 minutes whereas Dunia Susi and Sofia Jakobsson each played 45 minutes, as the Lionesses were defeated 4-1 by tournament hosts Sweden on Thursday evening.
With their Euro 2013 fixtures commencing next week with an opening group game against Spain, Hope Powell's side were looking for an encouraging performance in Uddevalla.
England started well and Arsenal's Ellen White clipped the ball coolly past Kristin Hammarstrom to give England a 12th-minute lead. But the Swedes had turned the tables by half-time, Antonia Goransson and Lotta Schelin netting in the space of four minutes.
The interval brought about changes from both nations and the emergence of Susi and Jakobsson.
Brown-Finnis was kept busy in goal for the remaining 45, denying Schelin, Charlotte Rohlin and Lisa Dahlkvist in quick succession.
The hosts' skipper Caroline Seger found a way through on 51 minutes following a perfectly weighted ball from Jakobsson, while Schelin grabbed her second to make it 4-1 with 22 minutes left on the clock.
Brown-Finnis then denied Jakobsson late on to prevent it becoming 5-1 as the hosts ran out comfortable winners.
