Ashley Cole returns to the starting line up having missed the last two games with a rib injury.

Gary Cahill retains his place as John Terry's partner in central defence and the midfield and attack are unchanged from the win in Germany midweek

Branislav Ivanovic makes his 150th Premier League appearance and Petr Cech plays his 445th Chelsea game, equalling Dennis Wise as our sixth-highest appearance-maker

Man City bring Martin Demichelis into their defence for his first game of the season while Sergio Aguero is selected as the lone striker with Alvaro Negredo starting on the bench. 

Chelsea are expected to line up in the following 4-2-3-1 formation:

1 Petr Cech; 2 Branislav Ivanovic, 24 Gary Cahill, 26 John Terry (c), 3 Ashley Cole; 7 Ramires, 8 Frank Lampard; 17 Eden Hazard, 11 Oscar, 14 Andre Schurrle; 9 Fernando Torres.
