THE CHELSEA WEEK HOME AND AWAY

Posted on: Mon 18 Nov 2013

In this round-up we check out how our players out on loan with a game this weekend got on before looking ahead as our first team players return from international duty later in the week…

Loan highlights
With no games in England's top two divisions there were weekends off for a number of our players out on loan, but there were still goals and minutes played for some.

For Brentford, George Saville scored his second goal for the high-flying Bees in their 5-0 demolition of Crewe Alexandra. The score was 2-0 when Saville took a touch inside and curled the ball home with his right foot from the edge of the area. The win moves Brentford up to fourth in the League One table, with Saville starting their past six matches in all competitions, all victories.

Sam Walker played the full 90 minutes for Colchester again but couldn't prevent his side slipping to a 2-1 defeat at home to Swindon. They lie 15th in League One.

Milan Lalkovic will be hoping to feature for Walsall tonight as they host third-placed Peterborough United at the Bescot Stadium.

MK Dons were without a game this weekend but there was exciting news for Patrick Bamford yesterday, the in-form striker called up the England Under-21 side for the first time.

Over in Spain's second tier, Ulises Davila scored a hat-trick for Cordoba, his first goals for the club, in their 4-2 victory over Hercules. The 5ft 7in attacking midfielder headed home either side of the interval before completing his hat-trick in injury time with a stunning effort from outside the box. Cordoba are fourth in the Segunda Division.

The Chelsea week ahead
With the second round of international games still to be played, Jose Mourinho won't have his full complement of players back training at Cobham until Thursday afternoon. Our Brazilian quartet of Oscar, Ramires, David Luiz and Willian are playing the latest - their game with Chile in Toronto kicks off at 1am English time on Wednesday morning.

League action returns on Saturday with an tea-time kick-off against West Ham at Upton Park. Our Under-18s, fresh from their 3-0 win at Arsenal on Saturday, host Aston Villa the same day at 1pm.
