STAMFORD THE LION IN SCHOOL EVENT VISITS
Stamford the Lion has been busy in December attending two special schools events held by the Chelsea FC Foundation in Guildford and Leatherhead.
Firstly, he was at the Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre as eight schools from the area accepted an invitation from the Foundation to attend a day of sports and activities hosted by the Foundation's coaches.
Soon after, he was at the Leatherhead Leisure Centre with youngsters from five schools in attendance as the number of children involved across both days reached more than 200.
The days were designed to show local schools the work being done by the Foundation in the Surrey area, with pupils participating in various football and other sports-related sessions.
Stamford was on hand to add his own brand of 'help', while Ladies Elite Development player, and Chelsea Centre of Excellence graduate Millie Farrow, was also helping out and discussing her role with the club.
Each participant left with a Stamford t-shirt, and a goody bag to keep from their day.
Steve Shipp, area co-ordinator for Surrey, who arranged the event in Guildford, said: 'We had a really successful day. It was great of the Guildford Spectrum to let us use the facility free of charge.
'We wanted to give something to the schools in Guildford, to show the programmes we run, and to give the local children an opportunity to attend a fun free event.
'Feedback from the schools has been extremely positive and I am sure all involved have had a great day.'
