IVANOVIC WINS SERBIAN HONOUR
Branislav Ivanovic has been named Serbia's Footballer of the Year.
The Chelsea defender and captain of his national team becomes the third player to be given the accolade twice, joining Dejan Stankovic and Nemanja Vidic, but is the first to win it twice in a row.
Ivanovic, who has played in every Barclays Premier League and Champions League game for Chelsea this season, enjoyed a career highlight at the end of the last campaign when he scored the winning goal in our Europa League final victory against Benfica.
On winning the vote by the Football Association of Serbia executive committee, Ivanovic said:
'Last year I said that this is the biggest honour for me. Now, after my country has chosen me again, I don't have the words to explain my feelings. It gives me great pleasure and motivation to achieve further success in 2014.'
The final game in 2013 for Chelsea is at home to Liverpool tomorrow. Looking ahead to that game, Ivanovic told Chelsea TV:
'We know Liverpool are a good team and they play really well and it is going to be a very important game for us, one of the deciding games this season and we must be ready.'
