Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the opening of a new state-of-the-art Blue Pitch in the Philippines.

The 11-a-side Blue Pitch will be located in Circuit Makati, Manila, and be operated by The Younghusband Football Academy, which is owned and run by former Chelsea Academy players James and Phil Younghusband.

The international-standard facility is an exciting addition to the existing facilities, which have been in operation since May 2012.

Blue Pitches are designed to provide communities with access to high-quality facilities and training, as well as access to Chelsea's community programmes promoting the values of education, health and social inclusion.

The pitches are part of Chelsea's Here to Play Here to Stay initiative which ensures a long-term commitment to our global communities and uses the power of sport to educate and inspire.

Chelsea FC Chief Executive Ron Gourlay said: 'Chelsea FC is delighted to be opening yet another facility in Asia.We have been involved in the Philippines for over 18 months now and this highlights our commitment to the region.

'Chelsea FC has a huge fanbase in Asia and our Soccer Schools and Blue Pitches enable us to teach aspiring footballers the club's footballing ethos through professional coaching.

'We already have the largest Foundation in the Premier League and we are using this wealth of knowledge and experience to develop community-focused programmes all around the region.'

The Blue Pitch will provide a high-quality training facility for youngsters to enjoy in a fun and safe environment, with coaching sessions led by local coaches, who have been fully trained and supported by the Chelsea Foundation.

The facility is fully equipped with floodlights for evening training and games and includes additional markings for two seven-a-side pitches, with an estimated 200 youngsters per week expected to benefit from the new pitch.

The new facility in the Philippines will be an excellent addition to Chelsea's existing work in Asia, with nine Blue Pitches and Soccer Schools in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, China, Malaysia and Sabah.
