Chelsea Ladies' Eniola Aluko scored the first goal of new England manager Mark Sampson's reign as the Three Lionesses drew 1-1 with Norway in La Manga.

Aluko started the game, while Chelsea team-mate Laura Bassett was among the substitutes for the international friendly in Spain on Friday.

Former Bristol boss Sampson replaced Hope Powell in December and his tenure was given the perfect start as 26-year-old Aluko cut in from the left before firing home in the 10th minute.

Lianne Sanderson had a header saved as England pushed for a second, while goalkeeper Karen Bardsley had pulled off three decent saves either side of the break to deny Elise Thorsnes and Kristine Minde.

But there was to be no dream start for Sampson as Melissa Bjanesoy headed in from a corner with three minutes remaining to earn the Euro 2013 runners-up a draw.

Bassett, who joined Chelsea from Birmingham City Ladies in November, came off the bench in the second half to win her 35th cap for England.

England Ladies have been in La Manga for a warm-weather training camp, with Gilly Flaherty, who joined Chelsea from Arsenal earlier this month also among the squad.
