Jose Mourinho and Peter Kenyon have given their reactions to the news that John Terry will wear the captain's armband for both Chelsea and England.

Mourinho, who first made Terry the full-time club captain for Chelsea said:

"I was always waiting with confidence for Steve McClaren's decision because I knew Steve was inside and from the inside he could not think twice but to choose JT as England captain.

"JT deserves it. England deserves a captain like him. He loves to work, loves to win, loves to make people happy and confident. He is a captain. I am really happy and on this occasion I also want to wish Steve success in the England job and tell him that at Chelsea we are here to help him."

Chief executive Kenyon added:

"Everybody at Chelsea is absolutely delighted for John and we all extend our congratulations to him.

"He deserves the honour of leading England and of course we believe he is a great captain. John is arguably the greatest captain in Chelsea's history already and I am certain he will do a fantastic job for England.

"For Chelsea as a club it also a huge honour to have the captain of England playing for us."
