Ashley Cole gave clear notice of his return to full fitness from a knee injury by laying on the final ball for both goals against Portsmouth.

Making his presence felt high up the pitch in trademark fashion, our left-back first crossed for Didier Drogba's volley and then in the second-half, nodded the ball into the area for Salomon Kalou's sharp finish.

Considering there were initial fears he would be out for months when carried off in pain against Blackburn just over four weeks ago, Cole was in high spirits after the win at Fratton Park. Even Man United's late winner at Anfield didn't dampen the mood.

'I had to get over doing my knee and it was quite hard to get over that but now I feel good enough,' he said.

'Ask any of the players and we still think we are good enough to win the league.

'Chelsea the past two seasons have put together long runs of winning games and we are capable of doing that again.

'Of course it is down to Man U to lose games as well but we just have to keep winning games.

'I don't know about them being unstoppable,' Cole added.

'For me they got dominated on Saturday lunchtime and again it was, I won't say a lucky goal, but it was a goal that came out the blue. Liverpool created a lot of chances.

'We just have to keep the pressure up.'
