Birthday boy happy with award

Petr Cech spoke exclusively to the club's official email newsletter after being named the Barclays Premier League's Golden Glove winner 2013/14.
The Blues number 1, who celebrates his 32nd birthday today, shares the award given to the goalkeeper with the most league clean sheets with Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny, after successfully making 16 shutouts this season.
Cech's achievement was made all the more impressive by the fact he did it in fewer games than his north London rival, 34 matches as opposed to the Pole's 37.
'I played less games, but if I share it or not, it's nice anyway,' Cech tells the newsletter. 'It's always nice to get recognition, and it's nice to have the most clean sheets from every goalkeeper. It's thanks to the way we played well defensively, but as a goalkeeper you need to be there to make sure you actually get the clean sheet.
'I'm very happy but it's just a pity I got injured in the moment before the best games of the season, the semi-final of the Champions League, and you could say the final of the league. But it's always nice to finish with something positive and the Golden Glove is a very positive thing.'
Earlier in the season Cech broke Peter Bonetti's club record for the number of clean sheets kept, and it's the third time he has won the Golden Glove award following successes in 2005 and 2010.
On both those occasions we finished the season as champions, and while this year we had to settle for a third-place finish, our goalkeeper is hoping for better next time around.
'If you defend well you have more chances to win games and we gave ourselves a chance by working well defensively,' he said. 'It's just a pity we couldn't convert more chances up front to have more points, that's the way it is but it was a very good season in terms of building for the new one.'
With player interviews, news round-ups, ticket updates, special offers, quizzes, information on upcoming events and exclusive competitions, the Chelsea email newsletter is a good way to keep in touch with anything and everything blue - and what's more, it's completely free!
