Clifford joins Walsall
News Fri 8 Aug 2014
Billy Clifford has today (Friday) signed a permanent deal with Walsall.
He joined Chelsea at the age of eight and came through the Academy to feature prominently in our 2010 FA Youth Cup win in his first year as a full-time scholar.
He turned professional in the summer of 2010 and was an unused substitute for first team Champions League wins away to Spartak Moscow and at home to MSK Zilina.
Clifford also played 13 of the 21 games that secured the national title at reserve team level during 2010/11, usually deployed on the right-hand side of midfield. He went on the first team's pre-season tour of Asia that summer and featured in victories against Malaysian and Thai sides.
A successful loan spell at Colchester followed and last season he spent time at Yeovil Town and Royal Antwerp, in Belgium.
We would like to thank Billy for his service to Chelsea Football Club and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
