Blues and Hublot launch unique watch

Five Chelsea stars helped launch the new club-branded Hublot watch at our Cobham training ground today.

Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic, Pedro and Bertrand Traore were joined by Ricardo Guadalupe , CEO of our official global timekeeper and watch partner, and 30 guests to launch the Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Chelsea, which is limited to just 200 exclusive timepieces.

The guests arrived at Cobham this morning to each discover a personalised Chelsea shirt waiting for them before enjoying a champagne reception in the players’ dining room and enjoying a close-up look at the new watch.

They then observed Guus Hiddink lead the morning’s training session and sampled the quality of the five players, who ended the session by teaming up with the visitors to try to help them win tickets to this weekend’s Premier League game against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Christian Purslow, Chelsea Football Club managing director, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to see the Chelsea name on this exquisite luxury Swiss timepiece and would like to thank everyone at Hublot for their continued support and enthusiasm.

Hublot is a valued partner and it is wonderful to see that partnership brought to life through the Classic Fusion Chronograph Chelsea.’

Guadalupe said: ‘I’m very proud and honoured to be at the Cobham training facility. We asked ourselves which football club could be the best partner and we thought of Chelsea.

‘Today some of our customers have been playing with some of the Chelsea players. Football is not just a sport, it’s a social event, and it’s important to have these type of experiences.

‘The watch we have created under the input of Christian Purslow is a classic visual watch, featuring the Chelsea colours. It has a crocodile strap on rubber with the Chelsea badge on the back. There are 200 pieces but we have taken a lot more orders than that.’

The Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph [pictured below] is the first watch made in partnership between Hublot and Chelsea. It features a 45mm satin-finished and polished titanium case and bezel, and is powered by calibre HUB1143, an automatic chronograph movement that provides the watch with twin counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, a date window at 6 o’clock and a 42-hour power reserve. The decorated movement can be seen through the watch’s sapphire case back. The Chelsea lion logo is situated at 12’o clock and also on the crystal from the case back, so that the Chelsea lion is truly close to the heart of the wearer as it literally touches the pulse.

The dial is blue, inspired by Chelsea colours, and has a sunray satin finish and a hand-applied Chelsea FC Lion appliqué at 12 o’clock. The watch is water-resistant to 50 metres (5ATM) and comes on a black leather strap with a blue rubber lining and trim, with a stainless steel deployant buckle clasp.
