Kante nominated for FIFA award

N’Golo Kante has been named on the shortlist of players in the running to be crowned The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2016.

The French midfielder is one of 23 players in contention for the prize, a list which was drawn up by experts from the FIFA Football Committee.

Kante, who joined the Blues from champions Leicester City in the summer, has enjoyed a fantastic start to his Chelsea career, establishing himself as an important member of Antonio Conte’s side.

He scored his first goal for the club in our recent 4-0 win against Manchester United, displaying a wonderful piece of skill before finishing in style.

So impressive have his performances been of late, Kante, along with Eden Hazard and Diego Costa, has also been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award.

The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2016 will be determined through a combined voting process, in which 50 per cent of the decision will be based on the votes of captains and head coaches from national teams around the globe. The other 50 per cent will be split between an online public ballot with football fans and submissions from a selected group of over 200 media representatives around the world.

Voting opens today (Friday) and closes on Wednesday 22 November.

The winner of the award will be announced on 9 January.
